Diaspora · in German and English

You don't have to translate your background here.

For people with Russian, Kazakh or post-Soviet family biographies, professional success in Germany often carries its own invisible weight. Post-Soviet upbringings were frequently shaped by emotional restraint, high performance expectations and the maxim of not being a burden to anyone. In academic or entrepreneurial contexts this often leads to permanent perfectionism and an inability to set boundaries in time. What looks like character is often a protective pattern: strategies that once provided safety and today run as constant tension in the nervous system, long after they were needed.

Because I share this cultural biography, you don't have to explain the context first: transgenerational dynamics, family loyalty conflicts and the subtle nuances between heritage and host culture. What is meant here is the context, not the language. The counselling itself takes place in German or English, carried by a lived understanding of the unwritten rules of post-Soviet biographical paths.

What this means in practice

Concretely: less time spent on explanations, more depth from the very start. We work directly with what lies beneath performance pressure, perfectionism and the difficulty of setting boundaries: with the nervous system that is set to constant output and restraint, without you needing to translate the cultural background first. What usually costs sessions is already assumed here.
